We build, repair and refinish decks for homeowners around Elizabeth and Union County. Most of us came up through general carpentry and framing before narrowing in on decks specifically, since it's a trade with its own code requirements and its own ways of failing.
If you're on this page, there's a decent chance a board's gone soft, a railing's started to wobble, or you're just done looking at a gray, weathered deck. We start at the ledger board and the footings, because that's where a deck actually fails, not at the surface, and fix what's structural before anything gets a new coat of stain.
None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.
We carry the licensing and insurance deck construction requires, and we'll show you the certificate before we start. If a footing goes in wrong or someone gets hurt on your property, that's on our policy, not yours.
Most Union County towns require a permit for a raised deck, and we file the paperwork and schedule the inspection ourselves. That way the deck is on record with the town, which matters when you go to sell.
Deck demo throws nails and screws all over a yard, and we run a magnetic sweep before calling a job finished. Torn-out boards go in our dumpster, not left in a pile by your fence.
You get a quote that lists the lumber or composite by name and square footage, not a round number. If you want cedar priced against composite, we'll write up both.
We don't hand your job off to whichever subcontractor is free that week. The person who frames your deck is often the same one who comes back to stain it.
Framing can't happen in a downpour, and we'd rather push a start date a day than pour a footing in mud. We'll call you the morning of if weather's going to move the schedule.
